PURPOSE:To obtain a photoreceptor superior in various kinds of potential characteristics in an electrophotographic receptor having a protective layer on a photosensitive layer, by forming an interlayer made of a hardened material contg. zirconium alkoxide between the photosensitive layer and the protective layer. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive layer 3 and at least one surface protective layer 1 are formed on a conductive substrate 4 to obtain an electrophotographic receptor. At that time, an interlayer made of a hardened material contg. zirconium alkoxide and a silane coupling agent is formed between the layers 1, 3 to suppress charge injection from the surface and to serve as a barrier layer for enhancing electrostatic contrast. As a result, the obtained electrophotographic receptor reduces residual potential and effect of humidity change on acceptance potential, prevents charge on the surface of the protective layer from discharging and lowering latent image potential, and can form a defectless image even after a large number of copy cycles. |
