The connector consists of two identical parts, each comprising a casing with a tube at one end and a projecting locking post (6) at the other. Each tube has a locking mechanism (13,20) that emerges the locking post of the other casing thereby holding the two parts of the connector together. The cables emerge through the tubes. The sockets and plugs are on the sides of the two parts. Each locking mechanism consists of a U-shaped operating bracket with a spine (17) and two limbs (13). The ends of the limbs are pivoted (14) to the tube. A U-shaped locking bracket has a spine with a hole that locates over the locking post. The limbs (19) of the locking bracket are pivoted to points (18) near the ends of the limbs of the operating bracket. Depressing (R) each operating bracket hooks (P) each locking bracket over each post and pulls the connector parts together.
