PURPOSE:To reduce the energy consumption in tempering treatment by introducing the forging fins of high temp. which are separated after forging into the furnace chamber of a tempering furnace and heating the atmosphere in the chamber by the waste heat of the forging fins. CONSTITUTION:The forgings W1 which are hot forged with forging presses and are hardened in a hardening tank are placed onto a meshed conveyor 14 in a tempering furnace chamber 7 through a charging port 8 and a chute 10. While the forgings are conveyed with said conveyor, the forgings are tempered and are discharged through a charging port by means of a partition plate 17. On the other hand, forging fins W2 of high temp. are placed onto a slat conveyor 16 in the chamber 7 through a charging port 9 and a chute 12, are conveyed in the chamgers 7 and are discharged through a discharging chute 21. The fines W2 of high temp. heat the atmosphere in the chamber 7 by the waste heat thereof according to the movement in the chamber 7, and heat the atmosphere up to the prescirbed temp. corresponding to the tempering temp. Thus, the forgings W1 are tempered quickly and efficiently. |
