The haystack-cutting appliance has at least two cutting blades (1, 1') which are movable relative to one another and bear directly against one another and which have cutting teeth (25), and these cutting blades (1, 1') have a design resembling a fox's tail, and in their side facing the drive motor (3) the cutting blades (1, 1') have two respective abutments offset relative to one another in the axial direction of the cutting blades, arranged transverse relative to the axial direction and limiting a recess (9). An eccentric connected to the drive shaft of the drive motor (3) is located respectively between these abutments. The two eccentrics are offset at 180 DEG relative to one another and are spaced from one another in the direction of their axis of rotation. The eccentrics receive the cutting blades (1, 1') between them, and in the region of the abutments the two cutting blades (1, 1') are guided on both sides in rails, and these are fastened to the housing of the drive motor (3) on the endface through which the driveshaft (11) passes. The appliance has high cutting capacities in the haystack. <IMAGE>
