PURPOSE:To facilitate the detection of leakage, if any, from the connection of an insulated pipe by a method wherein a colored cooling medium is employed and an absorbent layer made of colored material is wound on the insulated part. CONSTITUTION:An insulated pipe 12 is connected to a cooling duct nozzle 16 forming part of the cooling duct through a flange 15. An absorbent layer 18 made of colored material such as an electric insulating cloth tape, for instance, is wound on the connection. As a cooling medium, a colored cooling medium 7' is employed. The colored cooling medium 7' is prepared by dissolving the material colored to such an extent that it is almost nearly not affected by the physical and chemical properties of the cooling medium. The liquefied cooling medium is almost transparent but evaporated, leaving the colored material behind, when it is allowed to evaporate through something like a cloth. In case leakage should occur from the connection, the colored material will be left in the absorbent layer made of the colored material, so that the occurrence of the leakage and the spot where it has occurred can readily be detected. |
