The preliminary circuit is switched to one of two settings; to inhibit the flash action or to permit it. It has a photocell to monitor the background illumination and a range setting to adjust the illumination threshold in relation to film speed and aperture setting. The control circuit enables different types of lens to be fitted to the camera without having to reset the flash parameters. A fully automatic flash is obtained.
