PURPOSE:To shorten considerably a backup time, by transferring a data block after an error is processed and the error is recovered collectively after transferring a normal data block. CONSTITUTION:If a read error occurs in a magnetic disc device CMD 20 while data of the CMD 20 is saved into a cartridge magnetic tape device CMT 30, the data block start address and the number of transfer words are stored in a memory 104 for transfer of a magnetic disc back up device 10, and the control is transferred to the transfer of the next data block. Then, normal data blocks without errors are saved in the CMT 30 successively. After this saving operation, the error processing is executed in accordance with information stored in the memory 104. Data of blocks where errors are recovered are stored temporarily in the memory 104 and are transferred to the CMT30 continuously. Thus, data of the CMD 20 is saved into the CMT 30 with one break of the streaming mode. |
