A chargeable, gastight electric cell, in particular a nickel/cadmium cell, has an overpressure safety valve with covering membrane. To measure the internal pressure in the cell, a piezoresistive pressure sensor is provided with a membrane and a semiconductor resistance layer deposited on the latter. Electrical connections to said layer are taken to the can, insulated from the latter and can be contacted on the outside.
