PURPOSE:To obtain a stable electrostatic latent image and high picture quality by carrying out uniform charging as the starting stage of next copying cycles at a prescribed time later after an optical destaticizing process in an electrophotographic copying process which uses an amorphous As2Se3 photoreceptor, etc. CONSTITUTION:A destaticizer 8 for optical destaticizing is arranged near the circumferential surface of a photosensitive drum 1 between a cleaning device 7 and a uniform charging device 2. The charger 8 performs light irradiation and charge remaining even after a cleaning process is removed and then uniform charging as a next cycle is started. Between the light irradiation and uniform charging, a successive transient phenomenon occurs in a photoconductive layer 1a. With regard to a photoreceptor having an intense optical fatigue, the relaxation time from the light irradiation for the destaticizing to the uniform charging as the next cycle affects an important meaning to the stability of electric characteristics and when an amorphous Se-As photoreceptor incorporated with 35-40wt% arsenic is used, the time is set preferably >=0.2sec. |
