IN-CORE FUEL ARRANGEMENT FOR NUCLEAR REACTOR

Core arrangement consists of fuel assemblies in checker-board arrays dependent on number of prior burn-up cycles. Components of 1st checker-board array are new fuel assemblies(10) including flammable poison core & once burn-up fuel assemblies(12). Components of 2nd checker-board array are once or more burn-up fuel assemblies, esp. twice or more burn-up fuel assemblies(14). Components of 3rd checker-board array are new fuel assemblies in the core. Components of 4th checker-board array are once or more burn-up fuel assemblies.
