PURPOSE:To correctly calculate playing time information recorded on a disk by comparing this information time value with the reference value to add a fixed value to the initial value if said time value is larger than the reference value and to subtract the reference value from the time value and comparing again and repetitively the subtracted time value with the reference value. CONSTITUTION:A 1/10sec arithmetic part 14 contains a frame value input means 18 which inputs the frame value of the time information recorded on a disk read by a signal detecting part 11, a 1/10sec data addition part 21 which adds 0.1 for each time to the 1/10sec data if it is decided by a comparison means that said frame value is larger than the reference value, and a frame value subtraction means 22, etc. The time information is recorded on a compact disk for every 75 frames per second and therefore 0.1sec is equivalent to 7 or 8 frames. Thus the read frame value is successively compared with the reference values 7 and 8 and the result of this comparison is added to the 1/10sec data. Thus the digit of 1/10sec is accurately displayed.
