The method serves for mounting a pressure-wave transmitter (6) in a tile-covered area, the pressure-wave transmitter (6) being able to serve as an actuating member for draining water from a washbasin in a public washroom. To be able to avoid corners which rebound on the pressure-wave transmitter (6) and act as dust traps, it is proposed that a recess (7) be provided under a tile (3) and the pressure-wave transmitter (6) be arranged in this recess, and that the tile (3) be subsequently laterally joined to the adjacent tiles (1) by a rubber-elastic joint-filling compound (4). The arrangement of the pressure-wave transmitter (6) under the tile (3) has to be carried out in such a way that a movement of the tile is transmitted to the pressure-wave transmitter (6). <IMAGE>
