NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formulaI, its salt or its ester. EXAMPLE:(5R, 6R)-3-[(E)-2-Acetamidoethenylsulfinyl]-6-(2-hydroxy-2-propyl)-7- oxo-1-azabicyclo[3,2,0]hept-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid p-nitrobenzyl ester. USE:An antibacterial agent having low toxicity. Since the compound has beta-lactamase inhibiting activity and is stable in the body, it is useful for the prevention and remedy of diseases caused by bacterial infection. PROCESS:The compound of formulaIis prepared by reacting the compound of formula II or its ester compound (R is lower alkyl, etc.) with N-acetylcysteamine according to the reaction formula, S-oxidizing the resultant compound of formula IV to obtain the ester compound of formula V, and removing the ester residue therefrom e.g. by reduction. |
