<p>The housing (1) is a stainless steel tube, containing the two stage aerial pre-amplifier. The tube is sealed against damp and gases by an end cap (5) and an insulated bush (3). The housing is clamped (21) to part of the standing rigging, e.g. a back-stay. A rod aerial (4), which protrudes through the bush, is connected to a field-effect transistor amplifier. The amplifier output is fed via an impedance matching amplifier to the receiver aerial input socket. The amplifiers are powered by a 9 to 24 volt d.c. supply along two of the four cores in the cable (6), the other two cores being the aerial and earth conductors.</p> |
