RUST PREVENTIVE METHOD FOR CUPREOUS PARTS FOR ENGINE COOLING WATER

PURPOSE:To form films of excellent corrosion resistance against cooling water on the surfaces of cupreous parts for engine cooling by dipping said parts into rust preventive treating liquid prepd. by adding cupreous rust preventive materials such as mercaptobenzothiazole and amine to ethylene glycol. CONSTITUTION:The rust preventive treating agent wherein cupreous rust preventive materials such as mercaptobenzothiazole, benzotriazole and tolyltriazole and amine are added to ethylene glycol as antifreeze is prepd. Cupreous parts for engine cooling are dipped in said rust preventive treating liquid to form rust preventive films on the surfaces thereof. The preferable temp. of the treating liquid in this case is 50-90 deg.C and the dipping time of the cupreous parts is >=3-4hr.
