PURPOSE:To detect the presence of air bubbles contained in a fluid as well as the number of bubbles, by irradiating the laser light into the fluid containing air bubbles and then detecting the laser light that has the reflection or refraction owing to the air bubble. CONSTITUTION:The laser light (a) given from a gas laser device is held at a certain width via a cylindrical lens and a collimator lens 3 and then irradiated through a light transparent window 5 of a pipe 4 storing a fluid 8 containing an air bubble S. The light (a) reflected and refracted by the bubble S is received by a photodetector 7 which is set rectangularly to the incident direction. The presence and number of air bubbles are displayed in a digital form through a prescribed conversion. As a result, the air bubbles contained in a fluid can be accurately detected without inserting a sensor, etc. into the fluid. |
