PURPOSE:To widen the allowable range of temperature in a solution process by a method wherein a sintered body is cooled under specific conditions after completing the sinter of an R2Co17 (R is rare earth metal) permanent magnet. CONSTITUTION:A compact of R2Co17 (R is at least one kind of rare earth metal) intermetallic compound powder is sintered under practically vacuum, reducing atmosphere, or inert gas atmosphere in a temperature range of 1,100-1,250 deg.C. Next, a sintered body is continuously cooled from the sintering temperature to a temperature lower than the sintering temperature by 10-150 deg.C, and is maintained at the temperature for at least 15min, preferably, for one hour or over. Next, the sintered body is rapidly cooled from the maintaining temperature to a temperature of 900 deg.C or below, at a speed of 5 deg.C/sec or over, preferably, 10 deg.C/sec or over. This solution treatment method can widen the allowable range of temperature. |
