In a gas damper assembly, a circular internal ridge(la) is formed in the body(1) after insertion of the piston(3) & its stop. The stop is then moved into its final position with the help of the piston until it is locked in place by the engagement of its groove(6a) with the ridge. The stop is a loose fit in the internal dia. (D) of the body, thus preventing the two from binding together, and producing metal swarf which would subsequently damage the seal(5) and cause leakage of gas(7)
