The frequent changeover to foreign languages with other characters or other types of lettering requires easy exchangeability of the daisywheel (1) in printing units in typewriters or similar office machines. In known printing units, the daisywheel (1) is fitted onto the free end of a drive shaft (31), it being possible for the daisywheel (1) to be coupled to the wheel receiving device (2) via a carrier pin (22). In this case, it is necessary for the carrier pin (22) and an engagement opening (26) corresponding thereto to lie in precise alignment. This exchange of the daisywheel (1) is to be simplified by the invention. For this purpose, the carrier pin (22) can be displaced in the wheel receiving device (2) into the range of action of a switch (12) in such a way that the rotary search movement between the daisywheel (1) and the wheel receiving device (2) is only completed when the carrier pin (22) has engaged securely in the engagement opening (26) of the daisywheel (1). After this automatic engagement, the switch (12) transmits a switch-off pulse to the drive motor (29) for the wheel receiving device (2). The exchange of the daisywheel (1) is thus very simple. <IMAGE>
