<p>An ink composition for use in an ink jet apparatus contains an aqueously miscible and a non-aqueously miscible component, which is made compatible by the use of a common solvent having miscibility with both. The ink composition derives print quality characteristics from the non-aqueously miscible component and good jetability and small dot size from the aqueously miscible component. An ethylene glycol of the formula H(OCH2 CH2)n OH, wherein n is from 1 to 5, and oleic acid are preferred compounds employed together, suitably with methoxytriglycol as common solvent. The dye(s) or coloring agent(s) employed can be selected from both hydrophilic and hydrophobic materials.</p> |
