<p>The voltage is applied between two power supply terminals (B1,B2). Two amorphous silicon diodes (D1,D2) are connected in opposition to form a series electric circuit between the two terminals. The diodes may be of Schottky type, in which case at least one layer of amorphous silicon is deposited on a substrate and a metallic layer forming a junction. Alternatively, each diode is of type PIN or NIP, in which case an assembly of three layers of amorphous silicon are deposited on n substrate (10), the three layers being on n+ doped layer (11), an intermediate un-doped or weakly doped layer (12) and a p+ doped layer (15). The two diodes are integrated onto a common substrate to form a coplanar device with a metallic electrode (E1,E2) on each diode. The device is used in an electrically controlled viewing screen which is an assembly at elementary cells defined by a liq. crystal film inserted between two electrodes each connected to an electric control connection, the device being associated with each cell by its insertion in a series electric circuit formed by one of the electrodes and the control connection.</p> |
