PURPOSE:To follow up a target securely according to an enlarged picture by controlling the optical axis of a TV camera according to target picture coordinates based upon a polar coordinate scan on an image pickup surface and moving the target picture to the center of the screen, and then varying radius-directional scanning time. CONSTITUTION:On the basis of a polar coordinate scan on the image pickup surface in a radius and a circumferential direction through switches 3a and 3b, the polar coordinates of the target picture A are determined. When the horizontal lever 7 and vertical lever 8 of a gimbals mechanism are servodriven according to the polar coordinates, the optical axis of the TV camera 5 is controlled to allow the target to appear in the center of the screen. Then, when the speed of the radius-directional scan is decreased, the target image in the center of the image receiving screen is expanded to follow up the target easily and securely. |
