NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formulaI(R is H or amino-protecting group; R<1> is alkyl or aryl). EXAMPLE:2- Formyl-2-( 2-t-butoxycarbonylaminothiazole- 4-yl )acetic acid ethyl ester. USE:A raw material for a modifying agent for penicillin or cephalosporin. PROCESS:A compound shown by the formula II is reacted with a compound show by the formula HCOOR<2>(R<2> is alkyl or aryl) in the presence of a base, preferably in a solvent, in a temperature range from 0 deg.C-the boiling point of the solvent, or a compound shown by the formula III is reacted with a thiourea shown by the formula RNHCSNH2 preferably in a solvent, to give a compound shown by the formulaI.
