The dust precipitator has an inlet duct (10), on the end of which a baffle device (12) is located which sets the crude gas flowing in into rotation. The solid particles contained in the crude gas are flung into the adjoining, radially widened chamber (23), in which they sink after deceleration and drop through a dust duct (25) into a receiver (26). The crude gas flows through the chamber (23) in the axial direction and is extracted by a fan (28) via the dip pipe (22). <IMAGE>
