The invention relates to a cover frame, in particular for lorries and trailer vehicles, which is supported by means of upright tubes plugged into the stanchions. In relation to this prior art, the cover frame can be retrofitted by means of the invention in such a way that the complete lateral loading length is available by removing the centre stanchions and thus the support of the cover frame. This is achieved in the mounted state of the tarpaulin struts the centre stanchions can be easily released from the head piece and completely removed. For this purpose, the lateral tailgates are also folded downwards and the lateral tarpaulin is folded upwards onto the cover frame. As a result, the tarpaulin no longer has to be removed but instead can be folded up which entails a considerable saving in terms of work because the tarpaulin does not then also have to be refitted after loading, it is merely folded down.
