PURPOSE:To obtain a diaphragm with superior characteristics by drying a pulp fiber layer deposited on the shaped wire cloth of a reservior type paper making machine up to <=10% water content, dipping the dried layer in a soln. of a silane coupling agent represented by a prescribed structural formula in an org. solvent, and molding the dipped layer under heating or air-drying it. CONSTITUTION:A kraft pulp fiber layer of a kraft pulp fibers with 700cc beating degree deposited on the wire cloth is dried up to 8% water content and dipped in a soln. of a silane coupling agent in an org. solvent. The silane coupling agent is selected from gamma-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane, gamma-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane and beta-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl)ethyltrimethoxysilane represented by structural formulaeI, II and III, respectively. The dipped fiber layer is molded under heating or air-dried, and the unnecessary part is cut off to manufacture a diaphragm. Thus, the moisture resistance and Young's modulus are adjusted to required values, and the diaphragm is provided with superior characteristics. |
