PURPOSE:To provide a device which detects the level of powder and granules accurately without malfunction by sucking and attracting powder and granules at the detecting end having at least one through-hole of a diameter smaller than the diameter of the powder and granules to be measured and detecting the quantity of the change in a gas in said time. CONSTITUTION:If a gas releasing device 3 is operated while the foamed plastic resins 6 which are powder and granules to be measured in a storage tank 5 are in the state below the level of a detecting end 1, air, steam or gas is sucked through the through-hole of the end 1 and a pressure detector 2 maintains specified pressure. When the resins 6 increase in quantity, the powder and granule level of the resins rises gradually and contacts with the end 1. In this time, the through-hole of the end 1 is closed by the foamed particles and since the device 3 is in operation at all times, the air is released from the inside of a pressure conduit pipe 4 and the value of the detector 2 changes abruptly. The change in the pressure thereof is detected, whereby the powder and granule level in the tank 5 is detected. |
