Shock protection device for drum contg. radioactive prods.. A cylindrical container is protected against shock by an outer cage covered with flexible rubber buffers. The cage has a base carrying rubber buffers and a circular row of lugs forming hinges for a circular row of arms (a). Each arm (a) carries a flexible rubber buffer and ends in a hook. A cover is placed on the top of the container or drum, and has a circular row of lugs forming hinges for a circular row of arms (b). Each arm (b) carries a flexible rubber buffer, and ends in a hook carrying a ring receiving a hook on one arm (a). The result is a cage consisting of two halves which can be rapidly assembled round a drum. The rings are pref. adjustable so they can apply tension between each pair of arms (a,b). Used esp. to prevent damage to a drum contg. radioactive materials mixed with cement, where the drum is relatively fragile.
