PURPOSE:To provide the functions of reflection plates, to increase the speed of response and to permit multiplexing by mixing pigments and polytetrafluoroethylene or its deriv. with a specific solid electrolyte and molding the mixture under pressure. CONSTITUTION:Specific materials such as paratoluene sulfonic acid, poly-acids of phosphoric acid and tungsten oxide, lithium hydrazine sulfate or the like are used as the solid electrolyte for an electrochromic display. White pigments such as titanium oxide are added to the powder of such specific electrolyte in order to provide reflecting property thereto and further the polytetrafluoroethylene or its deriv. is compounded therewith as a binder at 1-5wt%. The mixture is molded under pressure to a sheet shape. The solid electrolyte of high strength is produced by the addition of the binder and since the electrolyte has reflecting property, the electrochromic display which does not require any reflection plate is obtained. |
