<p>The method of frost protection of solar panels and heat pumps involves flooding the panel with an immiscible fluid, e.g. paraffin oil, to displace the water. The system is controlled by a pressure-sensitive valve in the water line which permits water circulation to the panel only when the circulation pump is running. When the pump stops, due to power failure or by being tripped out by a frost detector, the valve releases paraffin to flow by gravity to the lightest point of the system, i.e. the panel.</p> |
