PURPOSE:To obtain a device which prevents deterioration in the processing performance of a central processing unit by memory diagnosis by checking on the occurrence of a parity error of memory readout data and then performing the memory diagnosis on the bias of the check result. CONSTITUTION:An intermemory transfer function is used to check on the occurrence of a parity error of memory readout data, and consequently memory diagnosis is performed. For example, a central processing unit CC1 executes channel start instructions CHS stored in main storage devices MM04-1 and MM14-2, and a data channel device DCH2 starts control operation according to the instructions CHS from the CC1 to read channel command address words CAW out of fixed addresses corresponding to the channel device numbers of the devices MM0 and MM1. Then, the device DCH2 reads channel control words CCW0-CCW2 out of the devices MM0 and MM1 according to the value of the word CAW and stores them in a CCW register. |
