In a plating process, a continuous electrolytic treatment of a circulating washing liquid is carried out by an electrolytic cell (10) being connected, e.g. via piping, to a washing vessel (42, 44) which adjoins the plating bath (40). The washing liquid of the washing container (42) is circulated continuously through the electrolytic cell, in order to deposit and collect metals contained therein at a cathode of the electrolytic cell. To this end, a scraper may be provided at the cathode, and after a certain amount of metal has collected, a valve is opened which leads to a filter device. <IMAGE>
