PURPOSE:To make variable the damping characteristic on the pressure side depending upon the piston stroke in a device with double cylindrical construction and equipped at the bottom of the inner cylinder with a base valve, which opens within a specified range of damping force in the compression stroke of the piston, by improving the base valve. CONSTITUTION:This damper device is composed of an inner 1 and an outer cylinder, where the inner cylinder 1 shall house slidably a piston formed in a single piece with the piston rod coupled to the car body and the outer cylinder 2 with its lower part coupled to the wheel. A lower limit stopper 4 is furnished at the bottom side of the inner cylinder 1 while an upper limit stopper 5, in an uppermore position away from the lower limit stopper 4 at a certain specified distance. A base valve 6 between these stoppers 4, 5 is accommodated slidably, and a support spring 7 is interposed between its lower part and a plug 3 provided at the bottom of the outer cylinder 2. The base valve 6 is provided is two passages 6a, 6b, where a check valve 8 is installed at the bottom of the passage 6a while a suction valve 10, at the bottom of the passage 6b. |
