PURPOSE:To produce the titled compsn. having improved impact resistance, by melt-kneading a polyphenylene ether resin or a compsn. thereof with a PS resin, with an epoxy group-contg. liquid polybutadiene rubber. CONSTITUTION:1-15pts.wt. epoxy group-contg. liquid polybutadiene rubber having a viscosity of 50-500P at 25 deg.C and an MW of 500-10,000 is blended with 100pts.wt. compsn. consisting of 100-10pts.wt. polyphenylene ether resin having a repeating structural unit of the formula (wherein the ether oxygen atom of one unit is attached to the benzene ring of the neighboring unit; n is 50 or more; Q is H, halogen, monovalent substituent such as a hydrocarbon group contg. no tertiary alpha-carbon atom or a halohydrocarbon group having at least two carbon atoms between halogen atom and phenyl nucleus) and 0- 90pts.wt. PS resin such as a styrene/butadiene copolymer. The mixture is melt- kneaded at a screw speed of 20-40r.p.m. and at 240-330 deg.C for 5-15min. |
