Measuring the weak gamma radioactivity of liq. samples - where sample flasks are conveyed by turntable to measuring pit in which hoist lowers flask to radiation detector

The measuring appts. includes a horizontal turntable provided with a circular row of holders; and a flask filled with a liq. sample is placed in each holder. The turntable carries the flasks stepwise to a transfer station, where a hoist is used to lower the flask to a radiation detector feeding signals to a measuring appts. The detector is located in a measuring chamber or pit with screening walls preventing the escape of harmful radiation. Each flask holder pref. consists of slides tapering towards the turntable axis and permitting the flasks to be lowered into the pit and then returned to the holder. Inspection of a large number of samples where a large vol. of the liq., e.g. 1 litre, is needed in view of the weak radioactivity of the samples.
