The function to be regulated is measured by inserting at least one component of known value and comprising the measured function for this component with a reference function. If the measured function is different from the reference function another component of known value is inserted and the measurement and comparison operations repeated. If the measured function is identical to the reference function for one of the inserted components of known value, then this value which corresponds to the value of the component to be determined is memorised. The circuit has a test element having a test point of the function to be regulated and two points between which a series of components are are inserted. The associated power supply is connected via a switching device to the series of components of known value. The measurement and comparison device is also connected to a memory which stores the value of that component for which a correct regulation of the function under test is obtained.
