PURPOSE:To obtain a low pressure mercury vapor discharge lamp having good efficiency where the moving pattern will never occur, by employing the specific encapsulating composition of Argon and mercury vapor while setting the rated discharge current between 0.2-0.37A. CONSTITUTION:It is comprised of a tubular discharge container 1 having the inner diameter between 22-32mm. and the length between 1,000-1,200mm., a pair of electrodes 2 provided at both ends and a rare gas and a mercury vapor producing material 4 encapsulated in said container to produce the discharge between said electrodes, where the rated discharge current is set between 0.2-0.37A while Argon is employed as said rare gas and the encapsulating composition is set to satisfy the relation x/y>=-1.209X10<3>Tn+1.61X10<4> in the range of 5 deg.C<= Tn<=60 deg.C assuming the Argon encapsulating mol. is x, the mercury vapor mol. during the discharge is y while the appearing plasma neutral atom temperature is Tn( deg.C). |
