The invention relates to a ball-game apparatus which has a vertical column or vertical tube at the upper end of which a pivot mechanism is provided, to which is attached a cord, the free end of which carries a ball. The pivot mechanism is so designed and arranged that it permits a restrictedly guided rotary and swinging movement of the cord in relation to the central axis of the vertical column, and it is impossible for the cord to become wound round any projecting parts of the pivot mechanism when the ball is struck.
