PURPOSE:To detect an original jam securely by comparing the distance from the tail end of an original to a paper ejection detecting sensor with the overall apparent length of an original present within said distance. CONSTITUTION:The length A of an original being fed is detected by a sensor, etc., provided at a paper feed part 1, and originals fed and ejected during one copying cycle are detected respectively to count the number of originals on original glass 20, thus detecting the overall apparent length L2 of an original present within the distance L1 from a stopper stage part 11 to a paper ejection detecting sensor 45. A comparing means makes a comparison between L1 and L2 and when sensor 45 does not any ejected original even while it is decided that L1<L2, a decision on a jam is made. Thus, an original jam between the original glass and paper ejection part is detected securely. |
