PURPOSE:To easily reconstruct an existing cargo ship into a slurry carrier, by a method wherein a hatch coaming for a cargo hold of an existing cargo ship is extended upwardly, and an overflow water discharging port, a free water discharging port and a water-discharging trunk are provided at a side part of part of the hatch coaming being extended. CONSTITUTION:The hatch coaming 3 for the cargo hold of the existing cargo ship is extended upwardly, the overflow water discharging port 4 is provided at an upper part of the side part of the hatch coaming 3 thus extended, and the free water discharging port 5 for discharging free water of a coal slurry is provided below the part 4. The water-discharging trunk 6 for conducting the overflow water and free water from the ports 4, 5 to a predetermined discharging part is provided on an upper deck 7. Accordingly, the existing cargo ship can be reconstructed into a coal slurry carrier by an easy operation on the upper deck 7. |
