A clutch release bearing assembly for a pulltype clutch in a vehicle engine and transmission includes a bearing (12) connected to clutch release levers (25) and a collar (14) connected to a clutch release fork (16) which pivots on a transmission casing. A carrier member (11) connects the bearing (12) to the collar (14), the carrier member (11) and collar being locked by a spring loaded latch (36) and detent groove (13). The arrangement allows the bearing (12) and carrier member (11) to be assembled to the clutch and the collar (14) to be assembled to the release fork (16) prior to assembling the engine and transmission casing.
