<p>PURPOSE:To make it possible to smoothly carry out a high speed and low speed switching operation by selectively switching the cam in the title timing adjusting mechanism for the suction valve and exhaust valve of an internal-combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:A control box detects the engine condition and generates a signal for switching a low-speed position to a high-speed position. When an electromagnetic valve 19 is actuated by the signal and the oil pressure within the cylinder 16 is released, a piston 17 and a switching shaft 7 moves in the right hand direction as viewed in the drawing, by a spring 18. The movement of the switching shaft 7 causes a spring bearing 9a to push the shift fork 6 toward the right- hand direction through a spring 8a, and causes a cam ring member 4 to slide along the cam driving shaft 5 and in the same direction to switch the high- speed cam 1 to a position of the locker arm 12. By this operation, switching of high-speed and low-speed can be smoothly carried out.</p> |
