The equipment monitors at least two optical signals (S1,S2) from the surface of a movable measurement object (A) in at least two separate positions (P1,P2), displaced relatively to one another in the object direction of movement. By measurement of the time displacements between the signals, a dimension is formed of the speed of the object. - An objective (OB) is used to form the object on at least two optical fibre conductors (FR1, FR2) which collect optical signals from specific surfaces of the object. Light is conducted to corresponding radiation probing components (PD1,PD2), and the output signals are fed to an evaluation electronic system where measurement of the speed and/or length occurs in accordance with the correlation principle.
