PURPOSE:To increase the output of a magnetic head formed by jointing single crystal ferrite and polycrystal ferrite while reducing a sliding noise, by diffusing metal made of Co or metal oxdes constituting ferrite into the joint part. CONSTITUTION:Polycrystal ferrite substrates 2 and 3 are polished into specular surfaces, and metal made of Co or metal oxides constituting ferrite are vacuum deposited on them. Then, a single-crystal ferrite substrate 1 is sandwiched between said substrates 2 and 3 while their thin films of Co face each other, and they are heated at 1,250 deg.C and pressed under 350kg/cm<2>. The metallic Co is diffused thermally to form a joint part 5. This block is cut as shown by broken lines into core block half bodies 6. Two half bodies 6 are glassbonded at single- crystal ferrite 9 (6a) whlie a gap 10 is formed, obtaining a magnetic head. This magnetic head having the Co-diffused joint part has increased output characteristics and an excellent S/N ratio. |
