PURPOSE:To reduce errors in reading by performing control so that a signal ARA is recorded even at a position other than a BOT marker position. CONSTITUTION:When a write command is not at a BOT marker position, a check on whether a flip-flop FF10 is set or not is made and when not, i.e. when an inadequate readout amplification gain by an ARA signal pattern at the BOT marker position is set, a microprogram control part 2 sends the ARA signal pattern writing command in an information area of a tape to a writing control part 3 and a writing and reading control part 5. Cosequently, an adequate readout amplification gain during a read is set by a signal ARA at some position other than the BOT marker position, thereby reducing errors in reading. |
