PURPOSE:To obtain a metallic image product superior in resolution, by providing a support with a metallic thin film for forming an image on it and with a photosensitive layer for forming a latent image on this film. CONSTITUTION:A metal of aluminum, iron, or the like is vapor-deposited on a support 1 of glass, plastic film, or the like to form a 5nm-200mum thick metallic thin film layer 2, and an this layer 2, a 0.5-100mum thick layer 3 of photosensitive resin, e.g., naphthoquinone-1,2-diazide-5-sulfonate ester of a novolak resin is formed by coating to obtain a metallic image forming material. This is exposed to light emitted from a mercury arc lamp or xenon lamp, or the like to photoreact the layer 4 on the exposed areas, and the unexposed part 5 of the layer 3 is swelled by immersing it into an aq. alkaline soln. contg. an alkali earth metal compd., the metallic thin film layer 6 under the layer 5 is etched, permitting the metallic thin film 7 under the layer 4 alone to form an image. |
