A measuring device for determining the operating voltage of voltage-conducting, insulating-material-encapsulated installation parts in medium-voltage switchgear is characterised by the arrangement of a first metal area (12) directly on or adjoining the insulating-material encapsulation (11) at a slight distance and a second metal area (13) extending at a distance approximately parallel to the first metal area, which second metal area is electrically conductively connected to earth potential but is electrically insulated with respect to the first metal area, each of the two metal areas being connectable or permanently connected via electrical feed lines (15, 17) to in each case one connecting terminal of a measuring instrument (16) suitable for capacitive voltage measurement. The metal areas can be formed, for example, by deformable metal plates (11, 12) or metal foils. <IMAGE>
