PURPOSE:To reduce the weight and size of a rotary electric machine by forming a recess at the position nearest to the outer peripheral surface of an armature on the inside surface of the armature of a field coil, thereby shortening the width size in inward and outward directions of a field core in the amount corresponding to the depth of the recess. CONSTITUTION:A field coil 16 is formed with a circular-arc recess 16b at the position approaching the nearest to the outer peripheral surface of an armature 9 of the inside surface 16a of the armature 9 side. With this structure, the diameter D of the armature 9, the outer peripheral air gap a of the armature 9, the height B of the coil 16, the thickness C of a magnetic frame 8 and the marginal difference X between the coil 16 and the inside of the field core 17 are formed equivalently to the conventional ones, and the width F size of the inward and outward direction of the core 17 is shortened in the amount corresponding to the depth E of the recess 16b of the coil 16, thereby reducing the size and weight of a rotary electric machine. |
