PURPOSE:To prevent a measuring device from colliding with the bottom of the sea, in a towing cable for the underwater measuring device, by both connecting negative and positive buoyancy parts in series from the side of a tugboat and constituting the rearmost part at the side of the other end with a positive or zero buoyancy part. CONSTITUTION:A towing cable 3, towing an underwater measuring device 2, is constituted by a negative buoyancy part 4, towed from a tugboat 1, positive buoyancy part 5, successively connected to said part 4, further a zero buoyancy part 6 successively connected to said part 5. This part 4 plays a role of suspending the measuring device in a desired depth, and the part 5 consists of synthetic resin fiber of specific gravity less than 1. Further the measuring device is formed to zero buoyancy, but in case of negative buoyancy, suitable positive buoyancy is applied to the part 6 in such a manner that the measuring device is almost horizontally placed with a bottom part as a result. In this way, even if a part of the cable is touched to the bottom of the sea, the measuring device is separately held to the safe height from the bottom of the sea, and damage and/or loss due to collision can be prevented. |
