PURPOSE:To make it possible to operate the vertical tail of a windmill and a brake through different wires, respectively, by a method wherein a rotary joint is fitted about the intermediate section of a wire whose one end is connected to the brake and another wire whose one end is connected to the vertical tail for directing the hub of the windmill toward the wind is connected to the rotary joint. CONSTITUTION:When the vane 20 of a windmill is braked, an operating wire 30 is taken up by a reel (not shown) whereupon the wire 26 whose one end is connected to the vertical tail 24 for directing the hub 18 toward the wind and whose other end is connected to the rotary joint 28 is drawn downward together with the rotary joint 28 to thereby incline and yaw the vertical tail 24 and to reduce the number of revolutions of the vane 20 of the windmill. Next, the wire 32 whose one end is connected to the mechanical brake 22 and whose intermediate section passes through the rotary joint 28 is taken up by the reel (not shown) to operate the brake 22 so that the rotation of the vane 20 is controled and stopped. Thus, with the above structure, the vertical tail 24 and the brake 22 are operated through the different wires 26 and 32, respectively, without making the wires 26, 32 and the operating wire 30 intertwined with one another and without making them damaged or cut. |
